Would you like to display your Viper at Drive Festival, Sept 9-11th, Bowmanville?
This event is a car enthusiast’s dream. Check it out at https://drivefestival.com/
The VCO has booked a club exhibit space for 10 Vipers in an area where various other iconic car clubs will be displaying their vehicles. You can display your Viper for 1, 2 or all 3 days. The organizer has suggested that we try to display all 5 generations, coupes, convertibles, street and track models, and an assortment of colours each day. Please let Bruce know asap which day(s) you would like to display your Viper, along with model and colour as some of you have more than one. Let’s create a dazzling Viper exhibit. This is a rain or shine event. Admission is free to those displaying their Vipers!
Why we need your RSVP Early
We have a lot of events this year, and most wouldn’t realize the amount of planning that goes into them, particularly when meal reservations or advanced admission ticket purchases or other commitments are required. We’ve actually had to cancel a couple of really great events when there were insufficient RSVPs received by the deadline in the event listing. So please note the RSVP deadline and reply early if you can, thank you! Also, when you RSVP to an event you will be contacted if there are any last-minute changes to be aware of.
ONVE2022-Niagara Falls, Sept 16-18
Get ready to book your hotel room at the Marriot On The Falls. John and Carm Wach have been planning our club’s Signature Ontario Viper Event for months and it’s going to be amazing. Saturday and Sunday are action packed, and those coming from a distance may want to arrive on Friday in time to join us for dinner at the Copacabana Brazilian restaurant. Come for a day, two or all 3! RSVP early to receive a free Niagara Parks Adventure Plus Pass. One free per membership while they last. Complete details soon.
VCO 25th Anniversary Travel Bags
If you haven’t purchased yours yet we still have several available…and they’re perfect for traveling to club events or anywhere else! $50 each or 2 for $90. Every apparel item we sell is priced basically at our bulk purchase cost. We make them available purely for your enjoyment!
VCO Winter Caribbean Vacation!
I threw out the idea of planning a winter event in the Caribbean at this week’s Keswick event and was blown away by the response…everyone loved the idea! Marko Makela suggested an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, which is a great destination. Punta Cana is known for its perfect weather and beaches, calm waters, affordable pricing, proximity to the airport, and unlimited local activities and excursions.
We’re thinking mid-November to early December. We’d like to get an idea of how many might be interested in going, and ask for your resort suggestions and preferred week. Shoot me a text or email and let’s take our events to a whole new level of fun!
Close to 1/3rd of the Viper Owners Association’s world-wide membership was lost in 2022 due to the announcement and handling of its financial crisis last year. The VOA’s National Board is made up of 5 VOA’s executive officers and the 36 VOA region presidents, most of whom have led the VOA for years, and only about half of whom attend most board meetings.
The VOA needs leadership with a strong vision for meeting the needs of membership. I’ve worked for months to implement needed improvements as the head of the VOA’s new Membership Committee in order to help create a sustainable future for the VOA. There has been strong resistance to change, and our committee has been unsuccessful at gaining support for a range of needed improvements and new membership initiatives. Nor have I been able to get them to follow their own bylaws, which would have prevented their financial losses.
I’ve now stepped down from the Membership Committee, and will silence my disagreements over club practices and direction on the National Board to allow them to proceed in the way that the majority of Board members feels appropriate.
I am forever grateful for our current and past Viper Club of Ontario leaders, members and sponsors who have made our club truly exceptional.
On behalf of your VCO Directors,
