September was a great month of weather and events with club friends, with the highlight being our weekend event visiting the Conner Center and Prefix Garage with Team Viper, Dodge execs, and Motor City Viper Owners club members! September Event Recaps
Sept. 6-8, Drive Festival & VCO Viper Exhibit
This was our 3rd year exhibiting at this huge 3-day automotive event that's presented by Mobil 1, a VCO sponsor! Thank you to all who exhibited and to Mobil 1 for providing prizes for our daily participant's draws! One event highlight is the Dream Car Speed Run where drivers run their cars at speed around half of the track and end as they blast across the Start/Finish line to the delight of on-lookers. Simon Moroz in his blue 2017 ACR-E and Sam Quigley in his red 1966 Mclaren B1M race car didn't disappoint, pictured!
Sept. 13-15, Conner Center Weekend Event with Team Viper
Members thought this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and our event report with extensive photos is the next best thing for those who were unable to attend!
Highlights were meeting Team Viper VIP's, their signing of Vipers and riveting panel discussions, Honorary Membership and Award presentations, and viewing the collection of concept and production vehicles, including many street and race winning Vipers!
We also did a photoshoot at the iconic Chrysler HQ tower, visited Prefix Garage at the M1 Concourse, met Dodge's CEO and Senior VP, were introduced to the new Dodge Charger Daytonas, and did Viper Parade Laps around the M1 track following Charger Pace Cars!
Sept. 21, Barrie-Wasaga-Creemore Fall Cruise
This was a very scenic cruise organized by Ben Melenhorst. I was afraid he might be too tired as he became a father for the first time just a couple of weeks earlier! Congrats and thanks to Ben... and to his father who arranged the very interesting Creemore Springs Brewery tour! We then had a nice dinner just down the street at the The Old Mill House!
Sept. JRP "Speed Therapy" Days
JRP is a club sponsor and this month they ran 2 days at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park in Bowmanville, and 1 at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga. Always fun to exercise our Vipers and improve our driving skills while hanging out with club friends!
Sept. 28, ILR Car Control Schools Event, Bowmanville
24 enrolled in this excellent performance driving school. It's so rewarding for in-car instructors to see the DRAMATIC improvement in skill level during the day for drivers of all ages and experience levels. Our members found it very worthwhile and fun! We also had members enrolled in the "Lapping Only" sessions which ran when the students were in classroom. Thanks to Ian Law for his support of our club and with his event discounts.
Sept. 29, Hagerty G+S Cars & Coffee, Burlington
Early morning rain dampened turnout but we still had 7 Vipers come out. Jay T brought his freshly completed 9L that he built with help from Prefix, pictured. He's pointing to his hood decal "GEN 7 HP"...what Dick Winkles & Team Viper wanted for the next generation!
2025 Event Planning
Our first planning meeting is coming up and we're always looking for more new ideas!
A Viper Concours with judging is being considered for our Annual VCO Viper Show. It would be organized by VCO director Daniel Schneeweiss, a Ferrari Club of America national concours judge, and we'd invite Team Viper members to help with judging! Judging would be based on presentation, originality, functionality, and owners ability to operate features. If you would be interested in having your Viper judged please let Bruce know as it will only be feasible to do if we have sufficient participation!
Dodge Charger Daytona EV Event for us to experience this amazing vehicle! Have the best of both, this could be the perfect daily driver to park next to your Viper!
Member Car Collection Tours. We enjoyed touring Mike & Donna Black's collection on the way to Windsor on Sept. 13th. You supply the collection, we'll bring out some more interesting vehicles, and the club will cover the refreshments! Contact Bruce.
Spring Viper "How To" Detailing Meet. This would be a great time to learn the best products and techniques to protect & preserve our Vipers ahead of our Viper show!
